UFC 140: Jones vs Machida predictions

For my first prediction, Tito Ortiz over Lil Nog:

I think Tito will have more stamina and enough wrestling to neutralize Lil' Nog's boxing offense.  It's going to be hard to deal with Tito if Nog could barely scrape by Jason Brilz who pretty much beat him standing.  Nog didn't do so well off his back against Phil Davis either, even with that BJJ black belt.  Tito by SD.

Next prediction, Big Nog over Frank Mir:

If the first KO loss was really due to a staph infection, I say Big Nog can pull off the upset here against Frank Mir.  His KO over Schaub was pleasantly surprising, but he did take a few unnecessary powershots.  If not for that legendary chin, he would have gone down.  He needs to work his defense a bit better to take out.  Mir handled Cro Cop and Roy Nelson just fine, but he'll have his work cut out for him facing a healthy Nogueira who's out for revenge.  Big Nog by UD.

Next up, Lyoto over Jones:

You probably think I'm crazy for picking Lyoto.
Yes, Jon Jones is on a complete tear through the entire lightweight division.
Yes, Jon Jones has dismantled the only two men to have ever beaten Lyoto Machida in dominant fashion.
Yes, Jon Jones is the -445 betting favorite going into this fight.
But Lyoto drinks piss.  You don't piss off a piss-drinker.  Lyoto is fucking Ryu from street fighter, don't forget he was a puzzle just a few fights ago and no one saw his reign ending.  That Shogun fight could have been a fluke headshot and that Rampage fight could have gone his direction.  I know that's a bit of stretch since he did lose, but right now in the lightheavyweight division, I like Machida's chances best.

Machida via submission round 3.

GSP injured, UFC 143 now Diaz vs Condit

GSP v Diaz must be cursed! Second time it has fallen apart!

Well, this fight will still be good.  I think these guys are very evenly matched standing and on the ground.

May the best man win.

My prediction: Condit via split

UFC on Fox 1

It's almost here! TOMORROW!

JDS via KO in round 2!

Ben Henderson via unanimous decision!

UFC 140: Jon Jones vs.......Lyoto Machida?!?! wtf

Yep, Rashad injured again.  Hand injury.  Pussy.

Lyoto stepped in and I am glad he'll be the one fighting Jones.
If Jones wins, which I'm sure most believe he will, then he will have defeated 3 former light heavyweight champs in a row and be the first guy to defend this division consecutively since Chuck Liddell.

UFC Live on Versus 6: Struve vs Barry

SPOILER ALERT!

...

you have been warned.

now witness the sickest fight of the Live on Versus 6 card:

UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III

Time to finally settle the score!!

I got Frankie winning this time, unanimous decision.

We'll see that Aldo's gas tank from his last fight Hominick was nothing more than a fluke (from his sickness and heavy weight-cut).  Florian going down in the second via vicious KO.

Also, I got Stann > Sonnen via triangle submission in the 2nd.  Believe that.

UFC 139 gets some epic legendary fights

As you all know, cung Le and Vitor Belfort were slated to co-headline the UFC 139 card in November 19th.

This was to be a replacement filler for San Jose's first UFC card since Cain vs JDS was moved to the FOX card, UFC's mainstream debut.

Cung Le has his biggest fan base in San Jose, which was a smart move for the UFC to sign him on just in time.

However, news broke today that Vitor was injured and cannot make the fight.

His replacement?

THE AXE MURDERER:

This card is stacked with legendary warriors including former Pride champions, WEC champions, Strikeforce champions, and UFC champions!

Rest of the card includes:

Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson

Urijah Faber vs Brian Bowles

Get ready for one stacked ass card on Nov. 19, and dont forget, Jon Jones vs Rampage Jackson this Saturday!!

If Condit is out...then who fights BJ Penn?

so let's start from the top.

UFC 137 has GSP vs Nick Diaz and co-mainers Carlos Condit vs BJ Penn.

Nick Diaz doesn't show to 2 press conferences, refuses to answer phone, hides from everybody.

Dana White removes him from the card, plans to fire him, and replaces him with Carlos Condit.

Event is now UFC 137: GSP vs Condit.

BJ Penn is left without an opponent, and time is running out fast.

Nick Diaz is now BJ Penn's opponent.

UFC 137: GSP vs Condit, with co-main event BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz.

confused yet? same here.

what. the. fuck!

Nick Diaz out of fight with GSP at UFC 137; Carlos Condit as replacement

"I'm Nick Diaz, and this is me saying a big Fuck You to Dana White, GSP, the UFC, my own team Gracie, and the MMA fans all around the world."

Wow....

Wtf was he thinking?

Nick Diaz fails to show for multiple appearances at press conferences in Toronto and Vegas, the UFC presidente had no reason to believe Nick would even show up to weigh-in's, or even the fight itself at UFC 137.

"Nick Diaz has lost his opportunity at the welterweight championship, and Carlos Condit has it,” White stated. “Diaz is going to find out on the news that he’s not fighting Georges St-Pierre, maybe he’ll call me back then,” White stated.
Wow.  are you kidding me? Is he still not awake from the sweet OG kush that he bought with the UFC money he's yet to earn?

“Nick Diaz has lost his opportunity at the welterweight championship, and Carlos Condit has it,” White stated.

I was really looking forward to the fight....but at least now we get to see GSP vs Condit, camp Greg Jackson teammates!

Alistair Overeem

Wow, after much chaotic speculation following that travesty of an anticlimatic rematch with Werdum, being released out of the weaksauce Strikeforce Grand Prix, and being cut from Strikeforce and Zuffa altogether, the baddest heavyweight outside the octagon, Alistair Overeem, finally signs with the UFC and people everywhere are celebrating in tears as the internet is melting with newsfeeds.

Our boy here has 3 belts currently: the Strikeforce Heavyweight belt, the Dream Interim Heavyweight Belt, and the K-1 2010 World Grand Prix champion, and he's giving up all of that to be in an exclusive contract with the UFC.

Get ready from high profile match-ups with the heavyweight division, especially since Overeem's first opponent is none other than Brock Lesnar himself

I have returned!

Sorry everone about not updating in quite a looooooong time.

It wouldn't be in good character to say that I've been busy soI will try to do at least 2-3 updates a week from now on, especially with all the crazy shit going on!

during my unexpected absence, a lot of crap has definitely transpired, so let's take a look at that:

- chael sonnen is NOT talkin shit

are you kidding me? that biggest shittalker in the mixed martial arts world is NOT talking smack during his interviews and public appearances? not only is he quieting his brash asshole doucebag attitude, he's actually friendly and extremely peaceful....i guess when your opponent is Brian Stann who's a silver star recipient of the USMC, Chael better keep his republican mouth shut and pretend to be homies huh?

- rampage gets titleshot before rashad...
...even though rashad beat him to earn one...
,,,anyone see anything wrong with that picture?

Nope, me neither, fuck Rashad!
however, the picture above is a different story...

- marloes coenen released from strikeforce.

all because of her management, Golden Glory supposedly. She wasnt the only one either, Jon Olav Einemo and Valentijn Overeem were cut as well...but they both suck ass so they get no picture on this blog.

- brittney palmer leaves ufc for art school.

this one was the worst part! but good for her, art is cool, especially when you rub it all over your naked tits.

- dennis hallman's speedo

I take it back, Brittney Palmer leaving wasn't the worst thing, Dennis Hallman's appearance at UFC 133 was the worst.  It was so bad, UFC pres Dana White gave a $70K bonus to Brian Ebersole for kicking Hallman's ass and getting those panties off the camera.

- jon fitch

this guy is so friggin boring, they still wont give him a titleshot after remaining undefeated. they wont even give him a rematch with BJ Penn because "we dont want it, and the fans dont want it..." according to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva.  amen to that.  plus, jon fitch's pre and post serial rapist poses never help his cause either, just look above...

man, what is wrong in the mma world!!

Pat Barry vs Cheick Kongo

If you haven't see this fight yet, close this page NOW.  do NOT scroll down! This is your ONLY spoiler alert, so turn back if you don't want to see one of the sickest heavyweight stand-up fights unfold right before your eyes!!

But if you already HAVE seen it and wanna witness it again, here it is in all its glory....well, at least the last 30 seconds of it.

scroll down...

and

almost....

BAM SON!!

Been a while!! UFC 131, Live on Versus, and the Strikeforce GP

Man it's been so long.  SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED!

UFC 131 was pretty sweet, check out Shane Carwin's face;  he looked like he walked out of a fuckin horror movie:

LIVE ON VERSUS 4 was one sick card, I'd say better than UFC 131 and definitely UFC 130, and it was FREE!

Check out this sick ass kimura/triangle from J-Lau:

Joe Lauzon comes to finish fights.  Now while he doesn't do so well against the upper tiers, he absolutely just dominates less opponents in such a gruesome fashion that it's hard not to be fan.  Just look at that nasty triangle kimura!

Hmmm, what else happened in the world of MMA....oh yeah, NOT strikeforce, that's what not's happening! That was one terrible card, and I even thought it had the chance to become one of the greatest.  Hell, I believe we all did, and if it weren't for Josh Barnett (the guy who ironically we all thought would RUIN things again), that entire Strikeforce GP would have sucked bad....Overeem, you really disappointed me....

GSP vs DIAZ for UFC 137.....wow.

Holy shit!! It finally happened!

Finally, both guys will fight someone who stands a chance against one another! I believe Nick Diaz barely stands a chance though. Jake was the man I had submitting GSP, but after seeing Georges get hit by a few of Shields weak punches, I can see Diaz being able to actually do some damage.

Well I guess we'll see.  GSP has been boring me lately, but this fight has got lots of value behind it.

Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum set for June in Dallas!

Now this is going to be one sweet card! upcoming events in the fight world include UFC 130 which I doubt anyone still cares about now that both Edgar and Maynard are off, an Ultimate Fighter finale which lacks almost zero appeal save for the main event with Guida vs Pettis, Bellator 9 and 10 which I'm sure people don't even know exist! UFC 131 is just before this epic Strikeforce event, but even the prospect of an amazing stand-up war between JDS and Carwin wouldn't outshine the quarterfinal.

There is nothing left to do but wait...in about a month's time, we will witness quite possibly the best Strikeforce card yet, the second quarterfinal to finally determine the semi-final brackets.  I'm still with Overeem on this one; it's only a matter of time before he goes to the UFC and starts smashing his way through the heavyweight division.

Both Werdum and Overeem return to action after the former choked out legendary Fedor to hand him his first real loss in 10 years while the latter destroyed Todd Duffee, claimed the Dream heavyweight belt and won a K-1 championship all in the same month.

Josh Barnett also returns to action after going nearly a year without fighting.  He's taking on Brett Rogers, who was onced ranked until Fedor took his head off and Alistair Overeem gave him a humiliating beatdown.  Ring rust may be real, but I believe Barnett will win this fight via submission.  Him beating Kharitonov may be tough, but I still feel he's got it in him.  People forgot just how good Barnett was back in Pride with his 29-5 record.

Also, KJ Noons returns on this card, and don't forget someone else returning to this card:

GINA CARANO IS BACK!

Lyoto's Karate Kid Kick, UFC injuries, and Brock's replacement

Now that is one BADASS kick.  Right after Anderson Silva pulls a similarly awesome kick to the face of Vitor Belfort at UFC 126, Lyoto Machida replicates nearly the same devastating front kick and along with it takes away the spotlight, knockout of the night, Randy's career and front tooth.

Vitor Belfort would have you believe that Anderson was lucky to have landed that one in a million kick, but not soon after Lyoto was able to pull off the same kind of finish.  How is that possible you say? STEVEN SEAGAL, that's how.

Now time for the injuries...

The poster below shows what UFC 130 would have looked like had both Frankie Edgar AND Gray Maynard not received injuries at the same time!

The new revised UFC 130 poster now shows this:

The bad news? Rampage vs Hamill is now the main event.  The good news? Thiago Alves vs Rick Story has been bumped up to the main card.

Our next injury is none other than the new UFC lightheavyweight champ himself, Jon Jones.
After claiming the belt and then going through MTV Real World-style drama with Rashad Evans, the two were supposed to fight but Jones had to pull out due to a serious hand injury.

Brock's diverticulitis has resurfaced and it looks like the former champ is going to out of action for awhile, which means the return of Shane Carwin to fill in for him at UFC 131, which also means the return of Brock's uber beard.

UFC 131: Dos Santos vs. Carwin!!!

When it was against Brock, I had my bet on JDS for sure.  Now that it's Carwin, who knows how the fight is going to end up; both of these guys sure know how to finish! I would give the raw power and take down technique to Carwin, but the cardio and boxing technique to JDS.  My money still goes to JDS (via KO), but this has become more interesting to me than the original JDS vs Brock.

UFC 129 BABY!!

This card is going to be CRAZY.

So here are my picks:

Jake Shields via submission round 4

Jose Aldo via TKO round 2

Lyoto Machida via TKO round 3

Ben Henderson via TKO round1

RANDY COUTURE RETIRES! It was an honor to witness such a great fighting even at the age of 48!!

Wandy is back!

and he's taking on Chris Leben.  FINALLY.

This match was supposed to happen way back but instead we got:

1. Wanderlei vs Akiyama
2. Wanderlei gets hurt, pulls out of the fight.
3. Leben fights Akiyama, wins.
4. Wanderlei vs Leben.
5. Wanderlei gets surgergy, pulls out of the fight.
6. Leben fights Stann instead, loses via KO.
7. Stann vs Wanderlei.
8. Wanderlei doesn't want to fight him, says Stann is an "American hero" and fans would see Wanderlei as the bad guy.
9. Wanderlei lobbies for Vitor Belfort instead.
10. Dana White sets up fight with Vitor, Wanderlei refuses, wants fight with Leben.
11. Dana White gets annoyed, says Wanderlei never ducks anyone but is now getting complicated.
12. UFC sets up Wanderlei vs Leben.

Moral is, Wanderlei gets what he wants.  You dont say NO to the axe murderer, he says no to YOU.

Now, we already know how this fight will turn out: these two guys are known to slug it out.  This will be an all-out stand-up war, and it will end via KO/TKO.  No decisions here ladies and gents, expect some awesome brawling!

I give the slight nod to Wanderlei due to his fearsome strength and muay thai (and yet to be seen BJJ black belt skills).  Leben may or may not have the slightly better ground game here and equal power in his hands, but seeing him get tagged by Brian Stann is where I give Wanderlei the slight nod.  Expect a KO and the fans going wild for the Axe Murderer

Jon Jones the new champ, GSP vs Shields, and Thiago Silva's test results

Wow, has it really been more than 2 weeks since my last post?
Looks like i'm going to have to play catch up here!

Jon Jones, the new UFC lightheavyweight champion
First things first, my predictions were WAY off on the Shogun v Bones fight and I've lost all my bets...SHIETT

Shogun had no answers that fight and did not even threaten with any of his leglock attempts.  Jones was too big, too strong, and too fresh.  He toppled the division titleholder and now no one thinks he has anyone left to fight seeing as how Rashad, Rampage, and Forrest Griffin would all most likely be demolished.  Lyoto would stand a chance with his unorthodox striking and elusivity, but Shogun smashed him up and its hard to see that Jones wouldn't do the same or worse.

So it's only fair that fans all across the universe are calling out for Jon Jones vs Anderson Silva.  How sweet would that be? The pound-for-pound king vs the upcoming soon to be pound-for-pound fight...We all know Anderson Silva weighs around 220-230 walking and has dominated via KO in his two matches at light heavyweight, so weight cutting would not be a problem and there would no need for a catchweight fight.  But for now, Jones is busy with fighting his "friend" Rashad (some pussy shit going on there, but that's for another blog post...) and Anderson is still waiting around for the decision to be made as to whether he fights Okami or GSP, which brings me to the next post!

GSP vs Jake Shields

Okay, so....everyone is saying Jake Shields is deserving of this titleshot.... because of what? His controversial, debatable split decision over Martin Kampmann in which people booed and everyone agreed that he got his ass beat?  Yeah fuckin right, son!  People are also saying he's GSP most dangerous opponent yet, hell even GSP says that, but we know he's just trying to be a gentleman. How the hell is Jake Shields his most dangerous opponent? Because he can eat punches and knees to the face?

His chin is tested, but is he really going to stand and bang with GSP for five rounds? Yeah right.  He is going to try and take GSP down? Of course he'll try, and fail.  How is he going to take GSP down....you dont GET TO TAKE GSP down, everyone in the world knows that.  In fact, you dont get to do anything except get raped.  GSP is a machine, an athletic specimen, and one of the pound for pound greats because he can dictact the pace, dictate the direction, and most of the times dictact the outcome with his athletic prowess and crafty all-around mma game.

Now, whats even crazier is that a lot of people think Shields will submit GSP.  Not try to submit, not "might" submit him, WILL submit GSP.  uhh okay. that seems very unlikely.  He's not going to armbar GSP from the bottom because he will get slammed.  He cant rear naked him because he cant take GSP's back.  His triangles will be outpowered.  Shields might have small chances with kimuras, leglocks, or even a guillotine if gsp does one of his explosive takedowns, but I highly doubt shields will succeed in any of this or win any round on the judges score cards.

Of course, my betting/predicting streaks have gone to shit lately and everyone ive been picking has gone to shit.  Either im still too attached to my mma heroes of the olden days, or these things just happen because anything happens in mma at any given time. So, if anyone wants to take a bet on jake shields with me, you are completely welcome!

Thiago Silva's drug results come back dirty

My last post told us brandon vera has been reinstated with the UFC.  Last week, we found out that Thiago's second drug test failed and that he has indeed been caught with illegal substances.  Thiago Silva has since publicly apologized:

"This was a terrible decision on my part for which I will be punished. I am prepared to accept this punishment, learn from it and move on. I apologize to the Commission, the UFC, Brandon Vera and the MMA fans."

This is sad news for the mma world and for Thiago Silva as he was a great fighter.  He went 13-0 in his first 13 pro fights with 11 knockouts and now all of this is tainted because there is potential he was doping since.  What's even worse is that when his test was first called out by Kizer of the NSAC, Thiago Silva denied anything is wrong with his urine sample because he "didn't take anything".  Which means, if he didn't get caught, he would have gladly taken the win AND let Brandon Vera get cut by the UFC after breaking the man's nose and ridiculing and humiliating Vera by playing drums with his back during which Thiago dominated the fight on the ground with his superhuman strength due to the drugs.

We have yet to hear about Thiago Silva but a suspension/fine is probably looming in the distance.

UFC 129: Shogun vs Jones, day of the fight prediction

Alright folks, we've got less than 10 hours to go until the event starts!

I calling Rua by KO by round 2 or 3.  Who's with me!?!?
